Racing News

Sunday the 5th August saw a good turn out for the Holme Valley Wheelers in the Pennine CC 50 mile Time Trial.  The conditions were good and the event was won by Vince Macklam in 1hr 47 min 11 seconds.  Fastest wheeler was Steve Rimmer, who just missed going under 2 hours by 3 seconds (2:00:03).  Rachael Mellor continued to improve with a respectable 2:08:49 to win the women’s handicap prize, against a winning time of 2:00:59 by Sarah Cramoysan.  Next up in the men’s event were Peter Smith 2:16:01, Martin Whiteley 2:16:53, and Richard Haigh 2:21:52.

Sovereign 10

Steve Rimmer and Richard Hey providing a dead heat in their battle at the top of the overall league table.  Richard dropped a few points by being away on holiday, but with Steve due to be away for the Triathlon World Championships, it looks like going down to the wire on the 22nd August.
With Ben and James Kellett riding the White Rose League on the 25th the only member of the Youth Squad to show at the 10 was Jack Beardsell who sliced a good chunk of his previous time to record a credible 35 minute dead, claiming all 10 points for his age group.
At the White Rose League event on the 25th, the rest of the Youth Squad were showing off their new kit and posting some good times in the one lap time trial and the Criterium event.  Ben Kellett showed his time trialling form with a credible 1min 15 sec lap, but parted company with his bike in the criterium after a touch of wheels in some close contact cornering.
Max Gartery, Jacob Scott and James Kellett all performed well in this tough fast racing environment and continued to show improvements in skill and endurance against the best in the county.

The Richard Dunn Centre has been booked on Saturday the 11th   from 9.15 – 10.30 by Rachael Mellor.  This is for Youth training, so anyone interested can contact Rachael if they want to join in.
Rachael has also booked the Richard Dunn Centre throughout the autumn and winter months on Saturday mornings for youth training.  Further details to follow.
