The Tour of Britain Needs You

Now is your chance for you and your fellow club members to become a part of the UK’s premier road race on the calendar - the Tour of Britain. Taking place between the 7th and the 14th September, the 2008 event is bigger and better than ever before with no less that fifteen host venues taken in on the route. With the GB Cycling Team already signed up, the tour will make its ‘grand depart’ on the 7th September from central London, before racing through the South East, the South West, then up to the West Midlands before heading to Yorkshire, the North East and then crossing the Scottish border on the penultimate day before the big finish in Liverpool - the European Capital of Culture - where the winner will be crowned on the 14th September.

The Tour of Britain needs marshals to make this event the success that it always is, and is looking for volunteers to take on these roles. The only thing you need to volunteer is basic common sense: your role as a marshal will involve making sure that spectators stay clear of the road, managing crossing points, making sure cars don’t get onto the route and acting as an information point for spectators. If you or your club members want to get involved, sign up now by visiting the event web site. Every volunteer will be entered into a draw to win a ride in a team car for the London stage of the 2009 Tour of Britain!
