Posted in News on the 1st September 2010Well done and thanks
Many thanks to Debbie, John and Clare, and Bob for today’s impromptu ride to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park and beyond… a nice 31 mile circle. A good route. We must do a variation of it on the Saturday runs.
And a special thanks to Joe and Sophie, Leon and Felicity, Jack, Sunnivah and Gabs, Fabs and Hermione of the Youth Squad for being so mature, responsible and appropriately cautious on the busy roads we had to encounter.
Best wishes
John and Kati

Thanks to everyone for a really good ride yesterday (28th August).
We would like to set up a contact group for these rides so we can e-mail a map of the route each week to those who ride regularly or who would simply like to view it.
Our e-mail is thecullaighs@talktalk.net
If you would like to be part of the contact group please just send us an e-mail confirming your interest.

Posted in Events, News on the 14th July 2010Saturday Rides for All Abilities
From Saturday 10th July 2010 HVW are organising short leg-stretcher rides for all abilities. It’s an opportunity for all members to meet on an informal basis and to ride with non-member cyclists who are keen to get out and about on Saturday mornings. They will last approximately 2 hours or so and are not officially lead or coached.
Wheelers Ride Out On Saturday Mornings
Holme Valley Wheelers are inviting cyclists of all levels to join them on Saturday mornings for a ride into the countryside around Holmfirth.
The rides are designed to attract riders of all levels to stretch their legs for a couple of hours and enjoy the beautiful countryside around the Holme Valley.
The rides leave The Sycamore public house car park adjacent to Holmfirth High School at 9.30am Saturday mornings and last about 2 hours.
The first one left The Sycamore public house adjacent Holmfirth High School at 9.30am and went through Wooldale, Scholes, Hade Edge, Winscar Reservoir (see photo attached), Dunford Bridge, Carlecoates, Victoria, Maythorn Cross, Five Lane Ends, Fulstone and finished at New Mill Church. It was a lovely morning and everyone had a good time. We had members from 9 years old to 50 plus participating, but we are keen to extend an invitation to everyone in the area to come and join us and enjoy both the beauty of our local countryside and the health benefits of regular riding.
Participation is free, we ride at a moderate pace and all we ask is that riders are competent on the road and their bikes are road worthy. Children will need to be accompanied by an adult.
Club spokesman John Cullaigh said “We started these rides last week with circular routes around Winscar Reservoir and Royd Moor Hill. We thought it would be a good idea to organise rides for all abilities in a less formal context than the officially lead or coached sessions that currently exist for specific ages and cycling categories. John Cullaigh will indicate the route in advance via e-mail each week and can be contacted on 07817 458630 for additional information.
