Holme Valley Wheelers Hill Climb - 10 October 2009
Promoted for and on the behalf of Cycling Time Trials, under their rules and regulations.
Course V9115
Start at white line at entrance to un-metalled road (Rake Head Road) approximately 0.6 mile west of Holme Village and 130 yard west of bridge on the A6024. Continue in a westward (uphill) direction for 1.3 miles.
To finish opposite sign “Welcome to Holme Valley in Kirklees” sign Altitude 524m (1719 ft)
Distance (1.3 miles)
Ascent – 655 feet climb

Parking
Parking is restricted in the village; please do not inconvenience the residents. There are a number of riders from last year and would they please park as last year, in the lane running down to Digley reservoir.

Please note that due to poor mobile telephone reception the event will be completed and the times then driven to the headquarters.

For the Holme Valley event, only each junior will receive an allowance of 20 seconds for each year under 18 years of age plus a further 20 seconds for lady junior riders. Prizes will not be presented in the morning, all prizes will be presented by Tom Anderson after the Huddersfield Star Wheelers event at Jackson Bridge WMC at about 15.00.
Restrictions
The Yorkshire district CTT council forbids the use of turbos and rollers within 100 yards of households
In the interest of your safety; Cycling Time Trial and the promotes strongly advise you wear a HARD SHELL HELMET that meets an international standards and the use of an flashing LED rear light is strongly recommended juniors must wear an hard shell helmet
No warming up on the course after the start of the event.

As usual the BSCA event will take place before the open senior event at Jackson Bridge on the 10th of October, with Under 14, Under 16 and over 16 age categories.
If anyone would like to ride these they must be 12 years of age or over and still at school. You must enter on a BSCA entry form. Entry is £5 and anyone who is not a member of BSCA can still enter but will have to pay £1 for day membership.
After this will be the open event which is £7 to enter see CTT web site/handbook.

TOUR OF THE PENNINES
TOUR OF THE PENNINES, CYCLO SPORTIVE
SADDLEWORTH, OLDHAM
3rd October
100km and 60km ride around the Pennine hills of Saddleworth. The event takes in routes used by the Milk Race, Tour of Britain and Tour of the Pennines pro cycle race. The event starts in the picturesque village of Uppermill, it then passes through ther villages of Mossley, Meltham, Marsden, Slaithwaite, Denshaw, Ripponden, Littleborough, Milnrow ,Newhey and Delph. The 100km route takes in the climbs of Isle of Skye, Standegde, Scape Goat Hill, Nont Sarahs, Windy Hill Black Stone Edge,the Moorcock and Horse & Jockey, the 60km ride misses out Windy Hill Black Stone Edge,the Moorcock.
The event is sponsored by Lana Thai Restaurants who will be serving up a free curry to all participants and Torelli Sport one of the UK biggest suppliers of custom printed sports drinks bottles who will be supplying competitors with a sports bottle and sponsoring the feeding stations.
Head Quarters Uppermill Sports & Cricket Club, Saddleworth nestled at the foot of the Pennines is just 30 mins drive from the centre of Manchester. The nearest train station is a mile away in Greenfield. The nearest town is Oldham. Towns within a one hour travelling time from the event are Manchester, Leeds, Huddersfield, Stockport, Bradford, Preston, Bury Blackburn, Liverpool. The nearest motorway junctions are M62 Denshaw, M60 Oldham, M67 Hyde.
