UK Cycling Coronvirus Advice & Club Runs 17th March 2020
Coronavirus update: cancellation of all group activities
Coronavirus is in the headlines everywhere at the moment but what does this mean for cycling?
We take the health and wellbeing of our members, supporters, groups and volunteers very seriously and we’re following Government and NHS guidance very closely.
Following the latest Government advice, we’re urging everyone to follow best practice to minimise risk and so we’re urging all Cycling UK groups to cancel any planned group rides.
This means we’re advising all cyclists not to take part in club runs or any group activity until further notice. All Cycling UK group secretaries will be contacted with more details shortly.
This is a fast-moving situation so keep up to date with all the updates on our website.
Can I still cycle?
Yes, you can. We’re not saying that all your cycling activity needs to stop.
We spoke to Cycle magazine’s medical expert Dr Kate Hattersley, a South Devon Cycling UK group member, and practising GP in Exeter who explains how you can still go out cycling but minimise your risk as an individual cyclist.
Stay safe and look out for yourself and each other.
